Be Strong “I go the way of all the earth; be strong, therefore, and prove yourself a man. And keep the charge of the LORD your God: to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commandments, His judgments, and His testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn. 1 Kings 2:2-3 Before David’s appointment with death, he gave Solomon wise counsel. Solomon was God’s choice for the throne. “Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne (Psalm 97:2).” David had served his generation well (Acts 13:36). He told his son to be governed by God’s will and his charge. Be strong and show yourself a man that the Lord may continue to confirm the word given to David. Solomon, do your part towards perpetuating the promise of the Messiah. Walk before God in sincerity and commitment. Serve God whole-heartedly. The charge David gave his son contains standards of righteousness to be kept. If he kept the standards, they could be transmitted to further generations who could claim God’s blessings. This is true for us today also. The ultimate heir of David was the Messiah, Jesus, who fulfilled the Old Testament prophecies and is desirous to bless all who come to Him. Take courage and be a man (2:2). David learned the value of godly courage and being strong. May we all receive this same charge for the Kingdom’s sake. In His Strength Pastor Jay T.
