April 2014 Trusting God Regardless of Circumstances Affirmation of Faith: “Though the fig tree may not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines; though the labor of the olive may fail, and the fields yield not food; though the flock may be cut off from the fold, and there be no herd in the stalls - yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The LORD God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer’s feet, and He will make me walk on my high hills.” Habakkuk 3:17-19 (NKJV) Wait Patiently and Live by Faith: “But the just shall live by his faith.” Habakkuk 2:4b We will become unshakable, trusting our sovereign God (see Hebrews 10:38-39). We are to live comfortably in communion with God, dependent on Him and in expectation of Him. Know Who God Is: “Thus says the LORD: ‘Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, let not the mighty man glory in his might, nor let the rich man glory in his riches; but let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD, exercising loving kindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth: for in these I delight,’ says the LORD.” Jeremiah 9:23-24 Whatever our circumstances, wherever we are, we have a God who is just and kind to His children, protecting and providing for them. What God is After: We often want answers, but God wants to solve the lack in us. We must allow God to build His character in us, given by faith and not by answer of expectations. What Does God Require?: “But to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8b God wants us to be daily before Him in communion, conforming to His will and learning His ways. Remember how Enoch walked with God and God was pleased with him (Hebrews 11:5). Conclusion: Faith and patience are the conquering graces and must always be cultivated. Our Lord Jesus is the Author and Finisher of our faith. We, like Him, must be supported by the joy set before us. We must look to Jesus continually as our example to prevent weariness and fainting.
